About the role

An IT Staff member provides support to the IT Department and ensures that computer hardware and software, as well as networks and servers, work consistently and correctly. They install programs, configure networks and databases, and assist end users, focusing on one or more areas of IT support such as information security, database administration, or server maintenance. In addition, the role performs System Quality Assurance (QA) — testing, validating, and documenting systems and applications before and after deployment to ensure they meet the company's quality, functionality, and security standards and that no defective release reaches production.

Responsibilities

A.  General IT Support & Operations

•     Shall install and configure computer hardware, operating systems, and applications;

•     Shall run regular checks on network and data security;

•     Shall monitor and maintain computer systems and networks;

•     Shall assist staff or clients through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the phone, to help set up systems or resolve issues;

•     Shall devise a training program and a basic workshop for staff;

•     Shall develop and implement IT policy and best-practice guides for the company;

•     Shall troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults;

•     Shall recommend and monitor all IT-related equipment;

•     Shall provide support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports;

•     Shall support the roll-out of new applications;

•     Shall set up new users' accounts and profiles and deal with password issues;

•     Shall work continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate);

•     Shall rapidly establish a good working relationship with customers and other professionals, such as software developers;

•     Shall test and evaluate new technology;

•     Shall conduct electrical safety checks on computer equipment;

•     Shall implement security measures;

•     Shall anticipate and report the cost of replacing or updating computer items;

•     Shall preserve assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures, and information security and control structures;

•     Shall monitor and update IT working portals as needed;

•     Shall submit weekly and monthly reports;

•     Shall perform duties as may be assigned by top management.

B.  System Quality Assurance (QA)

•     Shall develop, review, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for new and updated systems and applications prior to release;

•     Shall perform functional, regression, integration, and user-acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure systems meet the defined requirements and quality standards;

•     Shall identify, document, and track software defects and bugs, and verify fixes through retesting before closure;

•     Shall coordinate with the System Development Division and developers to reproduce issues and validate resolutions before deployment;

•     Shall validate data accuracy, system computations, and report outputs against expected results;

•     Shall conduct quality checks on system deployments and provide QA sign-off, ensuring no release goes to production without passing QA;

•     Shall maintain QA documentation, including test logs, defect/bug reports, traceability matrices, and release/QA checklists;

•     Shall verify that systems comply with company standards, security requirements, and applicable data-privacy requirements;

•     Shall conduct post-deployment verification and monitor systems for issues after release;

•     Shall recommend improvements to system quality, usability, and processes based on testing results;

•     Shall assist in establishing and enforcing QA standards, procedures, and best practices across IT projects.

Requirements

Education:  A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or Business Information Systems.

Experience:  At least 1 year of experience demonstrating technical proficiency. Exposure to software testing or system quality assurance (QA) is an advantage.
